Did Anonymous Prevent Rove from Stealing Another Election?

I don't know if there's any truth to this, but it would go a long way to explaining Rove's Fox News tantrum on election night. Of course it turns out that Ohio wasn't necessary to win anyway, but still... I love a good conspiracy theory.

Yeah, it's a good point. Maybe Papa Rove doesn't like McCain much, or maybe they knew it wasn't going to be close enough to matter.>> ^Bruti79:

If he did it in 2004 why didn't he do it in 2008?
Conspiracies with extra ordinary claims need extra ordinary evidence.

I'd be more interested in what caused those servers to go down in the first place.

we live in a world of 100% uptime. Servers don't just crash for shits and grins. nor would you put something like election data on a server that wouldn't have heavy redundancies.

KnivesOutsays...

There is no such thing as 100% up-time. See Amazon, Google, E-Bay.>> ^VoodooV:

Does Rove really have the power to change election results? Great story, but I'm skeptical.

Yeah I haven't seen any substantial evidence, my dad has been bothering me about it but I don't think it's true. If Rove was EVER found out he would be ejected from public life completely, I don't think he'd risk that.

they'd still twist it somehow to make him into a hero.

Wouldn't a conspiracy of that magnitude to change an election result be grounds for treason?

Probably, but I doubt you could get the public to care. The election was basically stolen in 2000 and the BBC and other news outlets were reporting on it and wondering why the American public doesn't seem to care about it. We don't care for the same reason that not a lot of us vote, we don't really believe it matters too much. We know it's a game played by the rich and that we don't really have a voice, so we didn't care in 2000, it would be surprising to me if we cared that much what happens to Rove. He would just be not let on television anymore, and that's that.

Oh yes the Republicans would never laughingly lie to the people while planning their own get rich(er) schemes...

amazingly, there are actually people on here questioning whether or not Karl fucking ROVE would stoop to cheating.
the man who has orchestrated more bullshit propaganda, flat-out lies, political strategies of un-cooperation and disinformation, war and mass murder.
YES, Karl fucking ROVE would rig an election.
He clearly believes he is ABOVE THE LAW
and for the most part, HE IS.

I'm not sure if they're questioning whether Rove would stoop to cheating, they're questioning whether it's probable that he actually did.

So a question of capability rather than intent.

I believe Rove is actually Mr Burns made flesh and would gleefully steal candy from a baby, given the opportunity.

I live in Cincinnati. The Butler and Warren counties have large populations, are full of conservative suburbs and middle-class middle-age white people fleeing the cities. Of course they went strongly for Bush over Kerry. Delaware County is the exact same thing, but for Columbus.

indeed. he didn't invade iraq by himself, did he? he got help. he's arguably one of the most powerful men on the planet. I'm assuming he has some people that know their way around the backend of a pc.

Exactly. One has to admit that this is entirely plausible, and that time lines certainly stack up. Karl's conniption fit on FOX about his certainty that Hamilton County would go Romney, even though Romney lost the county by 4% or so.

As to why he didn't try this in 2004, I would suggest it was because the tide was so severely against republicans in that year. As with this year, Obama would have won whether or not he lost Ohio.

Hopefully Anonymous will release some hard numbers and details. Karl Rove has been doing this for half his life, some time in prison might change that.

While he's undoubtedly still got some major influence, he invaded Iraq with the backing of the US government. I guess it's still possible that he attempted this just using business and house connections, but I'm skepical.

Assuming this actually happened...No one is talking about how anonymous technically had the ability to change votes however they would have liked...and how our electronic election system is completely FUBAR. This election it may have been Karl Rove/Anonymous, the next one it could even be a foreign power.

well, i'd say his financial resources are somewhere near unlimited. for that you can buy whatever talent you want. What is in Iraq now is private industry, including private military contractors, and they were a huge part of everything. The "US" invaded, but only after a fairly intense propaganda and disinformation campaign.

another piece that makes this entirely plausible is that each state has different polling technology and systems. Meaning it is a giant clusterfuck of vulnerability.

Occam's razor. Which is more likely?

1) An old man refuses to believe that the world is changing around him

2) An old man had secretly rigged a national election, but the only people that knew about it were a bunch of spunky 4channers, and somehow taking down a website took down the entire infrastructure that would've allowed an entirely different set of servers talk to one another.

KnivesOutsays...

It's hardly accurate to discount Karl Rove as "an old man" like he's some rambling wacknut on a street-corner.

He's the architect of neo-conservatism, the poster child of the Bush era, and a man capable of organizing multiple Super PACs worth hundreds of millions of dollars of secret money.>> ^direpickle:
