Five years and two weeks ago This spectacular thing happened. FIVE FU NG YEARS AGO.

like it was yesterday.
What were you doing when you heard of the news of this blunder ?

I'll tell you where I was:
Ten minutes ago this "epic" event wasn't anywhere near in my consciousness.....Now, thanks to your mischievous boredom I am reminded how increasingly embarrassing it is to be white and American.

That was the verbal equivalent of one of those race car accidents; you know, where it goes all squirrely and starts disintegrating as it flips over and over. Even had the loose rim at the end there.

Lest We Forget is a line from the Kipling poem, "Recessional"

lest/lest/
Conjunction:
1) With the intention of preventing (something undesirable); to avoid the risk of.
2) (after a clause indicating fear) Because of the possibility of something undesirable happening; in case.

Lest We Forget means let us not forget.

Your title, "Lest We Never Forget" means, "Let us Not, Not Forget--Ever."
So, we should forget to not forget??
or, Not to remember???
...trying to parse this sentence has caused a rift in the space-time continuum in my brain.

There's a line from Loaded Weapon, when the gruff black guy is talking to the Joe Pesci type guy, and the Joe Pesci guy says "I don't know nothin!" and the black guy says "Please, no double negatives".

I remember that, and I haven't seen that film since 1993.
